Pat Lok mentioned to the Thursday night crowd a few times that U Street Music Hall was his favorite place to play in D.C. — and during his set, the fans returned the love. It was the second-half of the Homewerk Tour, led by Le Youth.

160929_leyouthOnce Pat Lock started going, playing his signature sound of soul and funk, the crowd migrated from the bar to get dancing closer to the front. We were grooving hard on the dance floor to his set, recognizing a few of the unreleased super jams from his preview mix for Snowball Festival later this year. He also played one of his newer songs called “You Street”, but being the center of the universe as we are in D.C. — we like to think it’s about “U Street.”

There was also someone blowing bubbles up front for part of Pat Lok’s set– and after years of coming to U Hall for shows every week, that was a first.

When Le Youth came onto the stage, he brought a bunch of people with him. Who was this guy? Rolling so deep with a huge posse? Nope, just the lucky first 20 fans who bought tickets to his show! But the 15-minutes of fame didn’t stop there, those guys got a photo on Twitter too:

Le Youth played everything, starting out with Daft Punk and then cruising into some Breakbot. A great set peppered with all sorts of Le Youth originals as well. He played for around an hour, and then invited Pat Lok and opener Future Wife going b2b2b — and toasting with some drinks to front-row fans.

The werk kept going until they had to shut down — but there were still plenty of dance floor vets left cheering when the lights came on. Le Youth was gracious to fans and we even got a pound and thanked him for the set.

Another night at one of DC’s best clubs hosting another legend on tour. Stay up to date with Le Youth on social media for new tour dates and tunes! See, he even released a new song while we were writing this article, check it!
